In this league any player who makes OVER 1,000,000 will have to go through waivers. RFA's are excluded. They do not have to go through waivers or re-entry waivers.
Re-entry Waivers still exist, if you are calling somebody up that makes over 1,000,000 they need to go through Re-entry waivers and if claimed, the waiving team will have to pay half the players' salary.
If a player who has been waived and cleared once already and is in the minors during a trade, the new team may put him in their line up without placing him on re-entry waivers first.
If a player is claimed in a waiver, and is over 30 years of age, he must to be a part of the claimers NHL roster and may not be sent to the minors.
Waivers exist in the off season, but re-entry waivers do not. What this does is gives teams a chance to relieve cap space, but re-enter the player into their lineup later in the summer without the risk of losing him, if he wasn't originally claimed.
Waiver process will take 24 HOURS MAX!!!
So better stay active to see who's on the waiver wire!
The team who gets the player is the team lowest in the standings who claims the player. You cannot claim more than 1 player a day (24 hours)!

BUY OUT RULES-
When a player is placed on waivers, be sure to note whether or not you wish to buy out the player. If he clears, he becomes a UFA. IF the buyout player is claimed, the waiving team will not have to pay any salary. If he is not claimed, the following buyout rules apply. This rule helps get players with crappy contracts back into the league, instead of wasting away in the minors. Players can only be bought out during the off-season. Any team that buys out a player must pay for HALF (50%) of their salary value of their previous contract for the duration of 1/3 the total term of the contract, if it's an odd number contract term then just round down 1 AKA 5 years = 2 buyout penalty years. EXAMPLE- A 4.000/ 6 year deal is bought out. The player clears waivers, the team must pay 2 million for 2 years. A 8M/ 7 year deal is a buyout of 4M/3 years. ANY PLAYER MAKING LESS THAN 1.5M ON ANY TERM CONTRACT WILL BE BOUGHT OUT WITHOUT PENALTY AGAINST THE ORIGINAL TEAM.
